Auris Cruise Control

Hi guys, I'm quite new to the forum, have been reading for a while but first time poster.  I've had a good search around before I ask this question but can't seem to find anyone who's had the same issues.  I read the excellent installation guide on how to fit your own cruise control stalk and went away, excited, and bought the parts hoping it would be a relatively quick job...however...I cannot seem to get the horn pad off.

I have a 13-plate Auris Sport, 1.6 Valvematic.  There is a little removable piece of plastic trim on the right hand side of the steering wheel only.  There are holes either side of the steering wheel, and one underneath.  When I pull away the plastic bit of trim, I cannot see any torx screws, nor any spring clips behind the holes.  I have shone a torch into the holes and can see only the empty void of the inside of the steering wheel with the odd wire running around in the background.  Does anyone else have a similar year Auris that can help please?

Thanks. Martin.

Which spark plugs for 08 Auris SR?

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone had any advice regarding the brand of spark plugs to fit to my 08 Auris SR.  My local Euro parts sells Denso and NGK. See link below

http://www.eurocarparts.com/spark-plugs

Also I was going to do this myself and was wondering if there is anything in particular I should look out for when doing this? (My only experience to date is watching a lot of Ytube vids)

Thanks

57 Auris T180 Grumbling noise

Alright,

I've owned a Auris T180 since August 2014 and had no issues as yet but my auxiliary belt on the engine has started to squeak which disappears as soon as I squirt a bit of water on to it, however I still have a grumbling noise, has anyone else had this, not sure if I've just notice it since the belt started squeaking and it's just the noise of the engine. I'll take a vid and try and upload it. Car has only got 62000 on and has never had any issues yet.

Cheers.

Voice control?

Hi, new to the forum. Recently got a Auris Hybrid Excel, 2015 with 10k on the clock. Wow, what a wonderful car, I'm very pleased with my purchase. One small problem I have though is getting the voice recognition to work. Every time I press the button on the steering wheel the display say "voice recognition not available". Is there anything else in the system that needs setting up for this feature to work. I have looked in the manual but it just says press the button and speak.

Hope someone can help.

2007 Sat/nav Unit Mp3/ipod Adaptor Install W/pics

After finally finding a company who do an mp3/iPod adaptor for the sat nav head unit I decided to go ahead and buy one. I've been searching for a good while now and am glad of the final result.

The box contents are as follows:

p1040076.jpg

The small bag of black bits are for mounting the adaptor unit and iPod player on the dash. Not something I did.

The adaptor itself:

p1040081.jpgp10400800.jpgp1040079.jpg

Firstly removing the head unit. There are other pics and details of removing the head unit in this forum, but I will add my pictures anyway.

Pop of the head unit surrounds by carefully prising a blade underneath the plastic and pulling upwards. To be honest as soon as it starts to move you can finish off removing the plastic by hand. This will help eliminate any scratches to the surrounds.

p1040083x.jpg

p1040084a.jpg

Do this for both sides.

Then squeezing in the yellow clips on either side of the heating vents you can lift away and unplug the upper vent.

p10400890.jpg

p103098801.jpg

To remove the unit unscrew the four 10mm bolts. 2 either side.

p1040088n.jpg

Then again squezzing four yellow clips this time, gently pull the head unit away.

With the head unit pulled away plug the wiring loom into the CD changer (black) socket.

p10400930.jpg

Then I attached the adaptor to the wiring loom to test it before putting it all back together. All worked fine.

p1040094s.jpg

Location of adaptor unit:

I decided to put the adaptor in the upper glove-box. I drilled a 20mm hole to allow the wiring loom plug to fit through.

p1040095w.jpg

With the cable pulled through the kit comes with a plastic pug to neaten up the hole.

p1040111.jpg

p1040113s.jpg

I then tidied it up further by adding some cable sheath I have lying around.

p1040119t.jpg

I attached the adaptor unit itself to the back of the glove box with velcro.

p1040118q.jpg

The adaptor uses the CD Changer display on the head unit.

p1040121y.jpg

Now with the adaptor installed I can have all my music with me. According the spec' the unit can take up to 100gb hard drive. As long as it can be powered by a usb socket. so basically a laptop drive. Though I will stick to a usb flash drive for me, the iPod cable is for when the misses is in the car.

Hi everyone,

I'm after a replacement indicator case for my Auris SR. It has been clipped and there is a small chip/hole. The indicator itself still works.

Could anyone advise where to get these from and is it possible to replace it myself?

Thanks!

Matt

Auris over accelerating when changing gear from 1 to 2

$

Hi,

I bought my Toyota Auris 1.6 petrol 2013 last week and I noticed that when it is at neutral gear and I push the accelerator and release it, the car rpm go up and continue going up even when I have already released the accelerator, it is like the accelerator had got stuck (but the pedal isn't, I already checked that). Same thing happens when the car is in 1st gear and I accelerate and release the accelerator to change to 2nd gear.

Does anybody know what could be happening?

Thanks in advanced for any help.

Auris-Dension connection

Hi,

I have got a Dension Lite for my Auris (2008) and have the standard stereo out ready to connect it however all the ports are taken. Which is the CD changer port and any ideas what is currently in that spot? The car has bluetooth fitted so could this be it? (you hold the 'mode' steering wheel button to activate that). Thoughts on how to connect the Dension and then select it (do you press mode on steering wheel or the disc button etc?) are appreciated

Boost Controller

right i have done numerous test drives with the boost controller hooked up to where indicated in the picture, is this even the right place for it?

its causing me to drop to 14psi max even with the controller on full!

however i have noticed that just putting my new hose on without the controller puts it upto 22psi (21psi is my normal)?

also i have noticed with the controller causes the boost to come in at 3000rpm now rather than 1700/2000 and will keep going up to 5000 which is insane! its hard accelerating well over 5000! which is bad but with low psi which is good.....

is it in the right place you reckon? (turbo is at the back and very inaccessible!)

no stupid remarks like if you don't know what your doing then you shouldn't be messing with it etc etc, any other day i would be joking along with you but I'm pulling my hair out to get this sorted...
thanks for the advice guys as always.

Sat in the car connected via home WiFi to Internet. Gone to "Toyota Web account"  but the "receive and send"  from/to my.toyota are both greyed out.

I've managed to complete it before, but can't seem to get it to work this time.

Any ideas?

Stop-start issue

I have a 2013 Auris, 1.4 diesel. Occasionally the car doesn't restart after a "Stop-start" stop, and the stop-start icon flashes green. If I turn the ignition off then on, the car restarts, and all is fine.

I understand that the flashing icon is telling me something is wrong, but what is going on?

Cruise Control Installation Instructions

Here is how to install Cruise Control to your Auris...

Found this instruction on Toyota Owner's Club Russia

-forum, special thanks to Andron, who took the pictures

and wrote the russian text!

I made some improvements and posted it here, enjoy...

You're gonna need two parts:

Cable

156622w.jpg

and switch

156623w.jpg

(You can see the part numbers on the pictures)

Next you have to connect the wire to the switch

156624w.jpg

After that, remove the cover caps from both sides of the wheel

After removing you will see the following:

156626w.jpg

(there is a possibility that the caps don't exist, if so, you'll see one screw on both sides of the wheel,

and should just continue to the next step)

Remove the screws (TORX 30).

Pull the airbag covers' upper side towards yourself. DO NOT disconnect the airbag's wire!

156627w.jpg

Put the switch to it's place from the inside of the right hole (or make the hole in case

you didn't do the "remove the covers from both sides of the wheel" -step because of

not having any covers.

156628w.jpg

After that just tighten the switch with two M5x10mm, not M6

screws

MOT Failure Corroded Breakpipes

Looks like my Auris has failed its MOT. Last year their was advisory on break pipes on both sides. Looks like they have failed this time. So I am being charged £40 for the MOT and £55 for the break pipes plus £15 for the retest fee as I am getting the breakpipes fitted by another garage.

How much work is fitting two break pipes? Not sure where the corrosion is.

I'm only intending to use it to carry a Thule bike carrier with no more than 3 bikes.  I'm looking for the cheapest price inc. fitting, no more than £200.

Postcode area G71.

Welcome any recommendations.
