I have registered on behalf of my daughter who has owned a 2010 Toyota Auris 1.6 petrol for 18 months with no issues during that time apart from a rear lamp seal.
However, 10 days ago the engine management and check engine lights came on and the car appeared to go into limp mode. After stopping for about 10 mins while she phoned me the car behaved as normal although the warning lights remained on.
I have had two diagnostic checks done ,the first giving P1047 and P1049 error codes which refer to "valve lift control" (bank1) Circuit defective.
The second check produced no error codes just "Valvematic Driver learning Value / Circuit B1" and Valvematic Circuit B1.
I have driven the car most days this last week and apart from one trip the car has only gone into "limp mode" once and yesterday both the warning lights were out at start up but came back on again after a 0 mile run and the car behaves normally for most of the time suggesting it is an intermittent electrical fault perhaps. Mpg is typical as well.
I have read many posts on this topic and it appears that the only answer is to spend lots of money and change the "Valvematic Control Unit ".
For my daughters sake I would like to explore all other suggestions before spending this sort of money.
Any suggestions from members would be much appreciated.
